What Is the Water Ejection Feature on My Garmin Watch?
The following Garmin® watches with up to date software have a water ejection feature to help remove water from the speaker and microphone:
fēnix® 8
Forerunner® 570
Forerunner® 970
tactix® 8
Venu® X1
This happens automatically after saving or discarding a swimming or water activity, or you can manually access it from the Controls menu at any time. See Related below for how to update the software on your fēnix 8 watch.
NOTE: Even after using the water ejection feature, it can take up to 24 hours for water to completely evaporate and restore original performance to the speaker. To learn more, see My Garmin Watch Speaker or Microphone is Muted or Muffled After Being Exposed to Water.
We also recommend cleaning your watch after any water activity where the watch is submerged. Be sure to follow the wear and care guidelines as this will ensure proper cleaning and avoid causing any damage to the watch.
Why Is My Watch Beeping and Vibrating After a Water Activity?
After saving or discarding a swimming or water activity, your watch will automatically use the water ejection feature to help remove water from the speaker and microphone ports.
Using the Water Ejection Feature
You can use the water ejection feature from the Controls menu to help remove water from the speaker and microphone ports at any time. If you do not see the water ejection icon in your controls menu, refer to your owner's manual and search "customizing controls" for instructions on how to add it.
Access the controls menu of your watch:
Hold LIGHT (upper-left button) for 5 buttons watches.
Hold START (upper-right button) for 2 button watches.
Scroll to
Water Ejection.
Press START/STOP (upper-right button) to select.
The watch will prompt you to keep the speaker port facing down while the watch plays a series of tones through the speaker for a few seconds.
