Sending Courses From Ride With GPS to Your Garmin Device

There are a few ways to send routes from Ride with GPS (RWGPS) to your Garmin device. Select a method below for steps:

Automatically Send Routes by Linking Garmin Connect with RWGPS

Link the Accounts

Setting up your Garmin Connect™ account to wirelessly sync your courses from RWGPS can be done on the web. Follow the instructions below to enable this feature.

  1. Log in to your www.ridewithgps.com account, preferably from a personal computer. If using a mobile device, use the desktop version of the website.

  2. Select the dropdown arrow, top-right corner next to RWGPS logo / your profile picture.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Connected Services, from the navigation menu on the left, then select Connect with Garmin.

  5. Enter your Garmin Connect credentials in the spaces provided.

  6. Once logged in, ensure the Courses button is toggled on to enable syncing of Pinned courses to Connect.

  7. Select Save and Agree to finish the setup.

Once linked, you can use the RWGPS app or web browser to send routes. The routes will appear on your compatible Garmin device and in your favorites list of courses in Garmin Connect.

NOTE: Older pinned routes will need to be un-pinned then re-pinned in order to sync to your Garmin device.

Sending Routes from Your Web Browser

  1. Sign into your account on https://ridewithgps.com/ 

  2. Select Jump To > Routes.

  3. Find your route and select the Pin icon (RWGPS pin icon).

    • Or, if you have the route opened, select Save > Pinned in the upper left corner or Send to Garmin.

  4. Open your Garmin Connect app and sync your device.

  5. The Pinned route will found on the device and Garmin Connect:

    • Device: Courses > Saved Courses

    • Garmin Connect: More/Menu > Training and Planning > Courses. 

Sending Routes from the RWGPS App

  1. Find the route in the app.

  2. Pin the route.

    • Select the Save button, then select Save to Pinned or Send to Garmin.

  3. Open your Garmin Connect app and sync your device.

  4. The Pinned route will found on the device and Garmin Connect:

    • Device: Courses > Saved Courses

    • Garmin Connect: More/Menu > Training and Planning > Courses.

Using the Ride With GPS Connect IQ App to Send Routes

Installing the Ride with GPS Connect IQ app on your compatible Edge® cycling computer will allow you to download recent or pinned routes directly on your device. You can see which devices are compatible by visiting the compatibility list in the Connect IQ app store page at the following link: Ride with GPS.

NOTE: Enabling this feature will only prompt new pinned routes to be synced. Older Pinned routes will need to be un-pinned then re-pinned in order to sync over to your Garmin device.

How Do I Configure the RWGPS CIQ App on My Edge?

  1. Open the Garmin Connect IQ app on your mobile device.

  2. Select the compatible Edge you will be using with Ride with GPS.

  3. Search for Ride with GPS and install the app.

  4. On your Edge, open the IQ store by selecting the IQ button from the device menu. Refer to your owner's manual and search "Connect IQ" for specific steps for your device.

  5. Go to rwgps.com/iq on a web browser.

  6. Enter the Device Code provided on your Edge and Submit.

  7. Select Confirm to link your RWGPS account with your Edge.

  8. Choose a route to download by selecting Recent Routes or Pinned Routes.

  9. Select Download and Ride to save the route and begin navigating immediately or select Download and your course will be found in the saved courses menu of your device.

Manually Importing the Course into Garmin Connect

  1. Find the route in the app.

  2. Select the three dots in the top right.

  3. Select Export GPX.

  4. Save the file to your device.
