Lap Time Calculation on VIRB Series Devices

VIRB® series action cameras which are capable of recording G-Metrix data can record lap time and lap count for use in racing, running, biking, or other similar activities.

The start of a lap is determined by the GPS position of the camera when the activity is started. When you pass this location again, the device records the completion of one lap and begins a new lap. Lap time, lap count, and other G-Metrix data can be reviewed in the free VIRB Edit application.

If your VIRB camera is paired with a Garmin device which records its own lap and position data, such as an Edge cycling computer, the data recorded by the external device will be used instead. For information about pairing with other devices, see your camera's owner's manual.
