Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS)
The Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS) feature allows the device to detect when you are not maintaining a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. The device will determine your vehicle's speed using GPS and calculate an estimated safe following distance based off of your speed.
In order for the feature to be enabled, you must be travelling in excess of 30 mph. If you slow to a speed of less than 20 mph, the feature will disable. The FCWS may not detect vehicles that are more than 130 FT (40m) away or closer than 16 FT (5m).
If you are on a Bluetooth phone call when an alert is needed, phone call audio will temporarily be muted so the alert can be heard.
If this feature is not available, update the software on the device with Garmin Express.
