Where to Plug in a USB Flash Drive or microSD/SD Card for an Update

A USB flash drive and microSD/SD card will be used when updating a Kenwood device.

  • The flash drive is used for firmware updates from Kenwood

    • The flash drive connects to a USB cable out of the back of the head unit

    • The USB cable can be wired into a variety of places within the vehicle

      • It is a cable which comes out of the back in a location determined by the installer

    • It could be behind the radio hanging down, in the glove box, etc.

    • There may not be a loose cable in an RV

  • The microSD/SD Card will be used for map updates and Garmin software updates

    • The microSD/SD card slot will be on the faceplate or behind the screen
