How to Register a Dog or Outdoor Product
Garmin Express™ software can be used to register most Garmin outdoor and dog devices.
Some older Garmin devices are not compatible with the Garmin Express program. If you have a Garmin device which is not compatible with Garmin Express, visit our Product Registration page.
For all newer Garmin outdoor and dog devices, proceed with the steps in this FAQ.
Getting Started
Before registering your device, you will need to have Garmin Express installed on your computer. For assistance installing Garmin Express, see Installing Garmin Express.
If you already have Express installed, skip to Registering.
Connect your Garmin to the computer using the appropriate USB Cable.
Cable Examples:
Click Add a Device once your Garmin is recognized by the computer.
Click Add Device once your device is found by Garmin Express.
If prompted, select Create an Account or Sign In if you wish to sync recorded activities with Garmin Connect or use Connect IQ apps, otherwise this can be skipped by selecting Next.
If this is skipped, you will be prompted to register the device in the next screen.
Enter a Nickname if you wish.
Wi-Fi Setup Prompts for Compatible Devices
Garmin Express will only prompt Wi-Fi setup for Wi-Fi compatible devices.
Garmin Express protects the saved Wi-Fi network credentials on your Garmin device by requiring a sign in to your Garmin Connect account before Wi-Fi networks can be configured.
Select an existing network, or Add New Network.
Select an available network if you selected Add New Network.
