Dispatch and Track on a dēzl Device

Dispatch and Track allow you to receive dispatches and share your trip with a dispatcher and selected contacts in real-time. To set up the Dispatch and Track feature, you will need a compatible dēzl device and a compatible Android or iOS smartphone with the free Smartphone Link app installed.

Before starting, ensure the software on the device and the Smartphone Link software are up-to-date and are paired with one another. See Updating Automotive Maps and Software with the Garmin Express™ software for instructions to update your device. See your device's owner's manual for steps on pairing your device and phone.

Dispatch and Track can be started from either the Smartphone Link app on your phone or from the dēzl itself.

Starting a Session From Smartphone Link


Note: The steps below apply to both Android and iOS smartphones. The provided screenshots are from an Android phone.

     1. Open Smartphone Link on the phone

     2. Touch Dispatch and Track

                

     3. Touch the Enter Contact or Email field

                 

     4. Enter the email address(es) of the recipient(s)
     5. Touch Start Dispatch and Track

A Dispatch and Track session will now begin and your drive details will be visible to the selected recipients. The session must be stopped to add more recipients.

When you are done with your drive, touch Stop Dispatch and Track to end your tracking session.

                  

Starting a Session From the dēzl


Alternatively, you can start or stop a Dispatch and Track session directly from the dēzl™ using the Dispatch and Track app or map tool. To use these options, Smartphone Link must already be configured to share with an email recipient using the steps above.

  • Dispatch and Track App
    1. Touch Apps or the App Drawer Settingstab icon
      • Some devices skip this step
    2. Touch Dispatch and Track
    3. Touch Start to begin a session
  • Dispatch and Track Map Tool
    1. Touch View Map
    2. Touch Tools (wrench icon)
    3. Touch Dispatch and Track
    4. Touch Start to begin a session

Enabling Map Tools

By default, only the most commonly used map tools are enabled in the map tools menu. You can add up to 12 tools to the menu.

1. From the map screen, touch Wrench-Icon

2. Touch settings gear

3. Select the checkbox next to each tool to add

4. Touch Save

A Dispatch and Track session will now begin and your drive details will be visible to the recipients specified in the Smartphone Link app.

When you are done with your drive, touch Stop Dispatch and Track to end your tracking session.

Email Invitation


Below is a sample email your selected recipients will receive when you start a Dispatch and Track session:

                 

Your completed drive details will be available to viewers for 24 hours. After 24 hours, viewers will no longer be able to access the session as soon as it has ended.
