How Do I Identify My Product Model?
You can identify your product in one of three ways:
By Product Name:
Use the complete name, which includes the series and model number if it has one.
Examples: Garmin Drive™ 50 LMT or vívoactive® 4S
By Serial Number:
This is an 8 or 9 character code made up of letters and numbers and do not have any spaces or dashes.
A serial number does not have any dashes. If you see a 145- number, try taking off any mounts to see your serial number.
You'll find it printed on the outside of your device.
By Unit ID:
This is a 10-digit number.
You can find it within the system settings of the device by looking at the system information screen.
Tips for Entering a Product Name
Ensure you are selecting your product name in the drop-down menu.
Try entering your product number (ex. enter 965 for a Forerunner 965) then select the full name in the drop-down menu.
Special characters do not need to be used when entering your product.
Ensure that you are on the proper country page for your location. Product lists are location specific.
Where to Look for Your Serial Number
The exact spot can differ depending on your device, but here are common places to check:
On the Device Itself:
Back or Bottom: This is a very common location.
Near Charging Contacts: Check where you plug in the charger.
Battery Area:
Under the battery door (if it has one).
Inside the battery compartment itself.
Under Protective Covers:
Under the weather cap (if present).
Under the watch band (for wearables).
Under the mounting bracket.
Under the GPS antenna.
Specific Devices:
Dog Collars: Look under the collar plate.
Tacx Trainers: Find it on a white sticker on the resistance unit.
Other Places:
Original Packaging: Look for a white label on the box; the serial number is usually printed below a barcode.
Fitness Products: You can find the serial number in Garmin Connect. For help see: Locating Your Serial Number in Garmin Connect
Some devices have a QR code printed near the serial number. You can scan this with your phone to display the serial number directly on your phone's screen.
