Troubleshooting a Bluetooth or dēzl App Issue with a Garmin Automotive Device

Your automotive device uses Bluetooth technology to connect with your mobile phone.

An Issue With the Bluetooth Connection Between the Two can Cause any of the Following Issues:

  • Automotive device and phone will not find one another.

  • Automotive device and phone encounter problems during the pairing process.

  • The pairing process is successful, but devices do not maintain a Bluetooth connection.

  • You are unable to hear the person you are speaking with or vice versa.

  • Hands-free audio quality is below expectations.

  • The automotive device is not importing or displaying your phone's contacts.

  • dēzl™ App features like Traffic or Weather are not displaying on the device.

Note: It is recommended not to be on an active phone call to troubleshoot a Bluetooth or dēzl™ App issue. While an active phone call will not prevent troubleshooting, some steps can cause the phone call to drop.

We Suggest Troubleshooting in This Order for Bluetooth or dēzl™ App Issues:

1. Phone Requirements

Ensure your Phone Meets System Requirements for the dēzl™ App:

Android phones and tablets require Android version 9.0 or later.

  • Wi-Fi and Cellular capability are required

  • The dēzl™ app will not be available in the Google Play Store if the app is incompatible with the device being used

  • Trying to install the app to an incompatible device from the Garmin website will prompt this error: "your device isn't compatible with this version"

iPhones and iPads require iOS 16.4 or later.

  • Wi-Fi and Cellular capability are required

  • Apple only includes the GPS chipset in the Wi-Fi + Cellular models

Verify your Phone has the Required Permissions Enabled:

See Phone Permissions Required to Use the dēzl™ App and Garmin Drive™ App for more information.
