Meaning of the different fish colors on the FishFinder 300c or 400c
On the FishFinder 300c or 400c, if the fish symbols are turned on, there could be a possibility of two different color fish appearing on the screen. The fish could appear as either a blue or orange color.
For the FishFinder 300c, which uses a dual beam transducer, the color of fish icons that appear will depend on what beam width is being used.
- Orange fish appear in the Narrow beam
- Blue fish appear in the Wide beam
- Both Blue and Orange fish will appear if the Wide beam setting is used. This is due to the way the dual beam transducers work. When the transducer is set to Narrow, it will only output the Narrow beam width. When the transducer is set to Wide, the transducer sends out both the Narrow and Wide beams at the same time and merge the two into one picture. This is why both the Orange and Blue appear at the same time.
For the FishFinder 400c, which uses a dual frequency transducer, the color of fish icons that appear will depend on what frequency is being used.
- Orange fish appear in the 200kHz frequency
- Blue fish appear in the 50kHz frequency
