What is the Detour button for?
The Detour button is used to calculate a new route if possible to avoid something ahead of you. The device will take you off the current route and will attempt to get you back on your original route as quickly as possible.
If the route you are currently navigating is the only reasonable option according to your navigation settings, the device might not calculate a detour.
This device also has the ability to use the Advanced Detour option.
To turn on Advanced Detour:
- Touch Tools
- Touch Settings
- Touch Navigation
- Touch Automobile, Truck, or RV
- Some devices may only have Automobile as an option
- Touch nuRoute
- Touch Advanced Detours
- Touch Enabled
- Touch Save
The device is now set up for Advanced Detours. Repeat these steps to turn this feature off.
When the Advanced Detour option is enabled, the Detour button will give the following detour options:
- 1/2 Mile
- 2 Miles
- 5 Miles
- Detour By Road(s) in Route
The 1/2 Mile, 2 Miles, and 5 Miles option will navigate you off the route for the selected distance.
The Detour By Road(s) on Route option will provide a list of the roads along your route that you can select to specifically detour around.
