Sending a Message with an inReach SE+ or inReach Explorer+
The inReach SE®+ and inReach Explorer®+ handhelds can send messages via satellite communication when used by itself, or while paired to an Android or iOS device through the Earthmate® app.

For how to send a message from the device itself, refer to the steps below.
Sending a New Message
Select Messages.
Select New Message.
Select a Contact or type a phone number, email or inReach address.
See Entering and Selecting Contacts below for detailed steps.
Type a Custom Message or select a Quick Text.
See Custom Messages and Quick Texts below for detailed steps.
Select Send Message.

Manually Entering Contact Information
Select the To field.
Type in the phone number, email, or inReach address.
NOTE: Phone numbers needs to be in the following format (minus the brackets): +[Country Code][SMS number]. For more information on country codes, see - https://countrycode.org/
Select Done.
Repeat this process for each contact.
Using Saved Contacts
Select the Contacts icon.
Select any number of Contacts.
Contact names may be listed multiple times to allow the option to send the message to their email, phone, and/or inReach device. Different icons are used for the contact's email, phone, and inReach. An example of these icons is listed below:
Email
Phone
inReach
Press X when done.
Custom Messages and Quick Texts
Creating a Custom Message
Select the Message field.
Enter a custom message.
Select Done.
Select Send Message to send.
Using Shortcut Buttons While Entering a Custom Message
While entering a custom message, the arrow buttons and check button are used to select each letter and the other physical buttons are used as shortcuts to aide in message composition. As indicated at the top of the screen, the functions of these shortcuts are listed below:
- The lightning bolt button will allow you to choose a word from the list of suggested words.
- The minus button will act as a backspace.
- The plus button will insert a space into the message.
- The menu button will capitalize the next letter.
