Wikiloc Connect IQ App on the Montana 700 Series

Wikiloc is a Connect IQ™ application available to many Garmin devices. What makes it unique for the Montana® 700 series outdoor handheld is you get a 60-day free trial of the 'Send to your Garmin' feature. The trial starts once you enable the app on the device. Steps for this can be found below.

For more information on the Premium features and the other free features of the Wikiloc app, visit their website.

Additional information on the Wikiloc app can also be found at the Connect IQ store.

Downloading and Enabling the Connect IQ Wikiloc App

Before using Wikiloc, the handheld must be paired with the Garmin Connect™ app on a mobile device. For steps, see - Pairing the Montana 700 Series with a Phone or Tablet.

The Montana 700 series handheld does not come preloaded with the Wikiloc app, so it needs to be downloaded from the Connect IQ store. This can be done through the Connect IQ app on a paired mobile device, or Garmin Express™ program on a computer:

Once you have the Wikiloc app installed to your Montana handheld, it needs to be enabled with the steps below:

  1. Select Home to reach the main menu.
  2. Select Connect IQ.
  3. Select Wikiloc.

Follow the on-screen instructions to enable the feature and sign in to your Wikiloc account (or create one) when prompted in the Garmin Connect app.

Downloading Wikiloc Routes

After the Wikiloc app has been enabled on your handheld, follow the steps below to download Wikiloc routes.

Sending the Trail From Wikiloc

  1. Search for trails on Wikiloc:
  2. Select the trail you wish to download.
  3. Send the trail to your Garmin:
    • Wikiloc app: Select Send to your GPS or Three Dots, then select Send to your Garmin.
    • Wikiloc website: Select Download, select the Garmin tab, then select Send to your Garmin.

Downloading the Trail to the Handheld

NOTE: The handheld must be actively connected with a mobile device in order to download Wikiloc trails.

  1. Select Home to reach the main menu.
  2. Select Connect IQ.
  3. Select Wikiloc.
  4. Select Continue when prompted to download your trail.

Trails that have been downloaded to the handheld can be accessed from Saved Tracks in the main menu.

Troubleshooting

If a downloaded trail is not available in Saved Tracks after following the above steps, or if it is unable to sync with Garmin Explore™ app, it may be that the trail is so long or complex that it exceeds the file limitations of the handheld or Garmin Explore app. In this case, you can manually export the trail from Wikiloc as a GPX file, then use a program like BaseCamp to break the trail up into smaller segments before importing them to the handheld or Garmin Explore app. For more details and steps, refer to the following support articles:
