How to get the Garmin USB Aviation Data Card Programmer for GNS Panel Mount(s) to work on a PC

If you connect your Garmin® USB Aviation Data Card Programmer to your PC and the light on top of the device does not illuminate, then your PC lacks the necessary drivers. The drivers needed to allow your PC to work with the USB Aviation Data Card Programmer can be found and downloaded via Garmin USB Drivers.

How to Install the Garmin USB Drivers:

  1. Select Download.
  2. Double-click on the USBDrivers_2312.exe and follow the prompts provided by the installation wizard to install the drivers.

  3. Insert the data card into the USB Aviation Data Card Programmer.

  4. Plug the USB Aviation Data Card Programmer into your computer.

  5. Restart your computer.

  6. Then, try to update the card as before.

You will know that the drivers have been successfully installed when the light on top of the USB Aviation Data Card Programmer illuminates. The light will be a green color by default (this is normal), and will turn amber when a card is inserted.  The amber light will blink while data gets transferred to the card.

NOTE: The blue Jeppesen Skybound card readers will not work with Garmin's website or Garmin's Aviation Database Manager program. A Garmin USB Aviation Data Card Programmer must be used to install Garmin databases to GNS™ avionics.
