Garmin ActiveCaptain SD Card/Class Recommendation
The ActiveCaptain™ App utilizes a micro/SD for most compatible Garmin devices1 in order to transfer data such as chart and software updates to the chartplotter.
SD Card Recommendation
- Speed: Ultra High Speed Class 3 (U3) or Class 1 (U1), or Class 10 (C10)
Class 2,4, and 6 micro/SD cards will work, however, the lower write speed may result in a longer transfer process - Capacity: Up to 1TB*
As of January 2024, newer Garmin devices can utilize up to this posted limit*. Cards less than 8GB will not have enough capacity to store both software and chart downloads - Physical Size: SD or MicroSD
Refer to the Garmin device owners manual for the required size - Manufacturer: Name brands such as Kingston, SanDisk, PNY, or Transcend are recommended
Due to the rise of counterfeit SD cards, they should be purchased from legitimate retailers
