My Automotive Device Doesn't Speak Street Names
Garmin automotive GPS devices that have the ability to speak street names are also loaded with pre-recorded voices that do not speak street names (e.g. "Turn right in 500 feet").
If one of these pre-recorded voices has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names. You will need to select a voice that speaks street names. These will be shown on the device with one of the following labels, depending on the device model:
- Speaks Street Names
- Speaks Garmin Real Directions™
- Supports OK Garmin spoken responses
To Change the Voice Language on your Device:
- Touch Settings
- Touch Language & Keyboard or System
- Touch Voice Language
- Touch the desired voice with one of the labels listed above
- If you do not see any voice language options with these labels, you will need to download additional voice languages from Garmin Express™. For instructions, see Missing or Corrupt Voice Files on an Automotive Device.
- Touch Save
The device will now give directions with street names in the selected voice language.
