Turning Bluetooth Pairing Mode on for a vívoactive 3 Series Device

If you need to pair a vívoactive® 3 series watch to a smartphone through the Garmin Connect™ app, you need to turn on the Bluetooth® Pairing mode on the device. Turning on pairing mode will trigger a Bluetooth beacon signal that the Garmin Connect app will look for. New out-of-the-box watches will automatically be in pairing mode when you turn it on for the first time. Below are steps to enabling Pairing mode for watches that had previously been paired to a phone. Before proceeding, be sure to first .

Steps to Enable Pairing Mode on a vívoactive 3 Series Watch:

NOTE: The steps below are accessed through the Settings menu and not the Controls menu of the watch.

IMPORTANT: You must pair the watch through the Garmin Connect App, and not directly to the phone through Bluetooth settings.

  1. Press and hold the screen to access the Main Menu.

  2. Swipe and select Settings.

  3. Swipe and select Phone. 

    • If your watch has never been paired or has just been restored to defaults you may not see this option.

  4. Swipe and select Pair Phone.

The watch will now be in Bluetooth pairing mode.

IMPORTANT: You must pair the watch through the Garmin Connect App, and not directly to the phone through Bluetooth settings.

  1. Press and hold the screen to access the Main Menu.

  2. Swipe and select Settings.

  3. Swipe and select Connectivity.

  4. Swipe and select Phone.

    • If your watch has never been paired or has just been restored to defaults you may not see this option

  5. Swipe and select Pair Phone.

The watch will now be in Bluetooth pairing mode.
