"Battery Missing" Message on Aviation Device

When an aviation device has been connected to aircraft power for an extended period of time without needing to operate on battery power, it will occasionally not recognize the battery. 

If the device is frequently connected to aircraft power, it is important to allow the device to run solely on battery power from time-to-time. Disconnecting from aircraft power, running the battery down, and then allowing the unit to charge fully, will prevent this message from appearing and allow the device to exercise its full battery potential. This procedure will also improve the life of the battery.


Replacement Batteries, if still available for your Garmin® Aviation Portable, can be purchased from Garmin.com

To purchase a replacement battery:

  1. Go to Garmin.com.
  2. Search for your Aviation Portable.
  3. Select Accessories.
  4. Select the Battery.
  5. Add the Battery to your cart and proceed to checkout.

Purchasing a replacement battery for the aera® 660 aviation portable:

  1. Go to Garmin.com.
  2. Search for the aera 660.
    • Search Aera 660 
  1. From the Aera 660's product page, select Accessories and then select Batteries:

  2. Select the Battery and then select Add to Cart on the next page.
