Custom points of interest (POIs), such as restaurants and tourist destinations, can be installed to your Garmin automotive device using the POI Loader program. Custom POIs can be found online through various third-party websites, or you can create your own. See Creating Custom POI Files for instructions.
POI Loader can then be used to load POIs to your device.
1. Connect the device to your computer
2. Open POI Loader
3. Click Next
4. Select Garmin Device
5. Click Next
6. Click Next when your device has been detected
7. Select Install new custom POIs onto your device
8. Click Next
9. Click Browse
10. Select the folder where the custom POI files are stored
11. Click OK
12. Click Next
13. Click Finish
The POIs will now be installed on your Garmin device.
The Garmin Points of Interest (POI) Loader program will not recognize some devices when plugged into a Mac computer. You can send Custom Points of Interest (POI) files to a memory card, which can then be inserted into the device.
1. Connect a compatible microSD card to your computer with an SD card reader
2. Open POI Loader
3. Select Load new custom POIs onto your device or computer
4. Click Continue
5. Click Browse
6. Select the folder where the custom POI files are stored
7. Click Open
8. Click Continue
9. The name of the SD card should appear here in the Destination field
10. Click Continue
11. Select the default install mode
12. Click Continue
13. Click Done when the installation is finished
14. Safely eject the SD card from the Mac
You can then insert the memory card into the device. You may be prompted to import the files when turning on the device.
