Changing Locales when Traveling to Another Country

When you first use your Garmin device, you will be asked to select a locale. Your locale selection is used to determine other settings on the device, such as the units of measurement used, text language, etc. When traveling to another country, you do not need to set your device to that specific country as your locale. The device will acquire satellites regardless of the selected locale.

If the device is attempting to acquire satellites, do not power it on and off repeatedly, drive around with it, or obscure it from the sky. Any of these actions may prolong or prevent the device from acquiring a signal.  It may take longer than normal to initially acquire satellites after traveling a great distance. If this occurs, ensure that the device is powered on, stationary, and in clear view of the sky.
