"There is a problem with the Microsoft .NET installation" Error in BaseCamp

A corrupt user configuration file can cause Garmin BaseCamp™ software to fail to launch and display the error. There is a problem with the Microsoft .NET installation. Please uninstall and reinstall all versions of the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Delete the Contents of the GARMIN_Corp User Configuration Folder:

Windows Vista and Newer:

  1. Hold the Windows Key (Image of Windows Key ) and press R
  2. Enter %userprofile% in the Open field and click Ok
  3. In the folder that opens up, AppData is a hidden folder. If you don't see the AppData folder, click View at the top, then click the box next to Hidden Items to put a check in it.
  4. Open the AppData folder
  5. Open the Local folder
  6. Open the GARMIN_Corp folder
  7. Delete all files in the GARMIN_Corp folder

Windows XP:

  1. Hold the Windows Key (Image of Windows Keyboard2) and press R
  2. Enter %userprofile% in the Open field and click Ok
  3. Open the Local Settings folder
  4. Open the Application Data folder
  5. Open the GARMIN_Corp folder
  6. Delete all files in the GARMIN_Corp folder

Once this folder is emptied, Garmin BaseCamp software should launch normally. If the issue persists, see Related Content.

NOTE: Deleting this file will reset Garmin BaseCamp software's preferences to default. All other user data (waypoints, tracks, routes, maps, etc.) will be preserved.
