inReach Mini Will Not Power On or Charge
If you find that your inReach® Mini handheld is frozen or will not power on or charge, the steps below can be performed to troubleshoot the issue.
Restart the inReach Mini Handheld
Restarting the inReach Mini handheld will not erase data or change settings. While this works best when the inReach Mini handheld is connected to a power source, it can be performed at any time.
Connect the inReach Mini handheld to a charger or computer.
Press and hold and Power for up to 10 seconds, or until it powers on.
Extended Charging Cycles
Charging the inReach Mini handheld for multiple cycles of 45 minutes may get it to power on.
inReach Mini Handheld Will Not Power On After Charging from an AC Adapter
If you find that your inReach Mini handheld will not power on after charging it from an AC adapter, updating the software should get it working. Firmware version 2.80 was released to address power issues after connecting to a computer.
For updating your inReach Mini handheld's software, see Updating the Firmware and Syncing Account Information to an inReach Mini.
However, you may need to use these steps for your inReach Mini handheld to interface with the computer:
Launch the Garmin Express™ program.
Press and hold Up and Back on the inReach Mini handheld.
While continuing to hold both Up and Back, power on the inReach Mini handheld.
NOTE: Release Power when the inReach Mini turns on, continue to hold Up and Back.
The inReach Mini handheld will show a USB icon. Release Up and Back.
Connect the inReach Mini handheld to the computer with the USB cable.
If the Computer does not recognize the inReach Mini, confirm that a data transfer cable is being used.
Follow the onscreen instructions from Garmin Express software to complete the update.
After the software update is loaded, the inReach Mini handheld needs to be powered on to install the update. Ensure the inReach Mini handheld has enough battery power for 5-10 minutes of use before disconnecting it from the computer.
