Which Terrain Resolution should I download for my GI-275?

The GI-275 electronic display is able to install a variety of Terrain resolutions, including 2.5 Arc Second, 4.9 Arc Second, and 9 Arc Second. See below for assistance with selecting a Terrain resolution for your GI 275:

2.5 Arc Second

  • This is the highest resolution available for Terrain and is designed for use in helicopters. For aircraft equipped with GI 275 unit software version 2.20 and later, this database can be synced with other devices in the aircraft such as a GTN™ Xi GPS navigator or TXi™ flight display which are subscribed to the same databases. Choose this option for helicopters.

4.9 Arc Second

  • This is the highest resolution available for fixed-wing aircraft. For aircraft with GI 275 unit software version 2.20 and later, this database can be synced with other devices in the aircraft such as GTN Xi or TXi which are subscribed to the same database. This is the recommended option for fixed-wing aircraft.

9 Arc Second

  • This is the lowest resolution available to the GI 275. A lower resolution requires less time to download. For aircraft which have only GI 275 and no other Garmin avionics, or are running GI 275 unit software prior to version 2.20, selecting the 9 arc second Terrain database will result in the smoothest database installation process.

To check the software version on your GI 275, please navigate to the Menu and then select System> Info. The system software version will be displayed at the top of the Info page on the GI 275's display.
