Error "System Missing" or "Software Missing" When Powering On a Garmin® Marine Chartplotter

If a Garmin® marine chartplotter displays the error message System Missing or Software Missing while the device is being powered on, this is generally due to an issue with the internal operating software of the device.

To correct the issue, a software update needs to be applied to the device using the forced update procedure.
