Troubleshooting the Garmin Dog Widget with a Compatible Watch
The Astro 320, Astro 430, Astro 900 and Alpha 100 have the ability to transmit dog tracking information to compatible outdoor watches1.
Fenix watches will require that the DogTrack widget is enabled.
Devices transmitting dog tracking information can transmit to multiple devices at one time. For example, an Astro 430 can transmit to a fenix 3 and fenix 5 at the same time.
If the feature is not working properly with the any of the Broadcast mode compatible devices, please use the troubleshooting steps below to try and resolve the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Ensure all devices are on latest software version
- View Related Content at the bottom of the page for instructions
- Transmitting device and receiving device must be within 15 feet of each other (closer is recommended for testing and troubleshooting)
- Ensure you are actively tracking a compatible dog collar with the Astro or Alpha unit
- Ensure only the two devices that should be communicating are on (power off all other transmitting handhelds or disable their Broadcast mode)
- To Disable/Enable Broadcast Mode on Transmitting Handheld:
- Go to Main Menu
- Select Setup
- Select Dogs
- Select Broadcast Dog Data
- Choose Disable or Enable
- Forget the previously paired handheld to ensure the watch is not looking for a different device
- On the watch dog tracking widget
- Press the Start/Stop button
- Select Forget Transmitter
- Give the widget a few minutes to try a pick up the handheld
- If other compatible receiving devices are available, try transmitting to them to see if they will pick up the signal.
