Using Daily Suggested Workouts on Forerunner 55

Daily Suggested Workouts are workout recommendations automatically provided by your watch. Each workout suggested is designed to provide an appropriate level of challenge while satisfying a specific need or improving a particular aspect of performance to help you maintain or improve your current fitness level. The following items all factor into your workout suggestions:

  • VO2 Max value
  • Recovery Time
  • Sleep data
  • Profile of recently performed workouts

How Do I Use Daily Suggested Workouts?

You will see a Daily Suggested Workout notification the first time you access the "Run" activity profile each day. Here you can select to do the workout, dismiss the prompt, preview the workout steps, or disable the prompt from appearing on future days. If you dismiss the prompt you will still be able to access the suggested workout through the activity options or calendar on the watch:

Activity Options

  1. From the watch face, press Start
  2. Select a Run activity profile
  3. Press Up button
  4. Select Training
  5. Select Workouts
  6. Select Today's Suggestion

Calendar Widget

  1. Press UP or DOWN to scroll through the widget loop
  2. Select the Calendar Widget
  3. Select Suggested Workout

I Do Not Receive a Daily Suggested Workout on My Watch

If you are following a dedicated training plan with scheduled workouts aimed at a specific event, one downloaded from Garmin Connect (either a Garmin plan or one you have created), or one downloaded from a third party, these training plan workouts will take priority over the Daily Suggested Workouts. You will still be able to locate the suggested workout in the workouts menu, but your training plan workouts will take priority in the prompts given on your watch.

There are a few other reasons why you may not receive a Daily Suggested Workout on your watch:

  • No VO2 Max
  • Disabled Daily Suggested Workout prompts

If you have not established a VO2 Max on your watch, complete an outdoor run at least 10 minutes in length and with heart rate data. Once a VO2 Max is established you will receive Daily Suggested Workouts.  

If you have disabled the Daily Suggested Workout prompt you can enable the prompt by doing the following:

  1. Press Start
  2. Select one of the available Running Profile
  3. Press and hold the Up button
  4. Select Training
  5. Select Workouts
  6. Select Today's Suggestion
  7. Press Start
  8. Select Enable Prompt

You have enabled the prompt and will automatically receive Daily Suggested Workout prompts for future workouts.
