RINEX Logging with the GPSMAP 66, 67, 86 Series and Montana 700 Series
RINEX Logging (Receiver Independent Exchange Format) is feature for Garmin found on the following outdoor handhelds:
GPSMAP® 66i | GPSMAP® 66s | GPSMAP® 66sr | GPSMAP® 66st
GPSMAP® 67 | GPSMAP® 67i
GPSMAP® 86i | GPSMAP® 86s | GPSMAP® 86sc | GPSMAP® 86sci
Montana® 700 | Montana® 700i | Montana® 710 | Montana® 710i | Montana® 750i | Montana® 760i
This feature allows recording of raw GPS data, such as distance to satellites, line of sight speed between the receiver and satellite and signal strength. This raw data can be saved from the device and used with third-party programs to create more accurate locations, sometimes as accurate as 10 cm.
RINEX logging creates a new file each time it is enabled, the device is power cycled, or the satellite constellation is changed on the device.
NOTE: RINEX data (Example: grmn300p08.21O) is not compatible with any Garmin programs; however, third-party programs, like RTKLIB, can be used to convert the data to KML format for use with Garmin programs. Garmin does not support third-party programs, or the process of converting or modifying RINEX data.
Enabling RINEX Logging
Access the main menu.
GPSMAP 66, 67, 86 series: Press MENU twice.
Montana 700 series: Touch
