Troubleshooting a Garmin LiveScope Image that Rocks Back and Forth

Listed are some items that can be utilized to mitigate this behavior:


Ensure Software is Current

Set Stabilization Sensor to On


On a GPSMAP from the LiveScope sonar page, select Options > Sonar Setup > Installation > Stabilization - set Auto Stabilize to ON

On an ECHOMAP from the sonar page, select Menu > Sonar Setup > Installation > Stabilization - set Auto Stabilize to ON


Set Orientation to Automatic


On a GPSMAP from the LiveScope sonar page, select Options > Sonar Setup > Installation > Orientation

On an ECHOMAP from the sonar page, select Menu > Sonar Setup > Installation > Orientation


If returns still appear to be swaying or tilting, some corrections may be possible by making the following adjustments:

  1. Ensure the GLS™ 10 sonar module is water grounded as stated in the installation instructions

  2. Check for Electromagnetic Interference around the GLS 10

  3. Ensure the LVS transducer is mounted correctly for the location it is mounted

  4.  Set Auto Stabilize to Off and manually adjust the pitch of the transducer
