Creating a Custom Garmin BlueNet™ Network Cable

Garmin BlueNet™ Network Cables are constructed very differently from Garmin® Marine Network Cables.  As such, it is not possible to take an existing Garmin Marine Network cable and simply adapt it to have BlueNet ends.  This method will not work properly. To convert Marine Network to BlueNet the BlueNet 30 Gateway is required to make the conversion.

When the need arises for creating a cable that is shorter or longer than the stock cables that are offered on garmin.com, a custom-length Garmin BlueNet Cable can only be created by utilizing existing Garmin BlueNet cabling.

To create a shorter cable:

  1. Acquire an existing length of BlueNet cable that has connectors pre-installed

  2. Remove the existing BlueNet connectors and cut the cable to the needed length

  3. Field-install RJ45 connectors on each end using the BlueNet Field Installation Kit (010-12528-20)

  4. Utilize a set of RJ45 to Garmin BlueNet Adapter cables, included in the field install kit

To create a longer cable:

  1. Acquire some Bulk Garmin BlueNet Network cable (010-12528-12)

  2. Cut to cable to the needed length

  3. Field-install RJ45 connectors using the BlueNet Field Installation Kit (010-12528-20)

  4. Utilize a set of RJ45 to Garmin BlueNet Adapter cables, included in the field install kit

Note that if custom length cable is not needed, a longer length of cable can also be achieved by using a pair of stock Garmin BlueNet cables and a Cable Coupler.
