Performing a Master Reset on a GPSMAP 276c, 376c, 378, or 478 portable device
A master reset is a procedure that will configure the device to the state in which it came out of the factory, otherwise known as factory default. This procedure will erase all user data like waypoints, routes, and tracks. If this data is important, please backup the data before performing the master reset. For instructions on how to backup userdata, please review the FAQ titled "Please see Related content"
To perform the master reset, please follow these steps:
- With the device powered OFF, press and hold the Quit and Power button at the same time to power the device ON
- Continue to hold the Quit and Power button until a message asking "Do you really want to erase all user data?" appears
- Highlight Yes and press the Enter button
- The device will now restart and when it powers back on, it will be restored to the factory default settings
At this time, the backup user data like waypoints, routes, and tracks can be sent back to the device.
