Pairing the Alpha 200/200i With the Alpha Mobile App

Using an Alpha® 200 or Alpha® 200i dog tracking handheld and the Alpha® Mobile app allows you to view your live hunting activity and dog tracking information right on a smartphone. The following guide will show how to get started with pairing the Alpha 200 or Alpha 200i handheld with the Alpha Mobile app. 

NOTE: The Alpha 200 and Alpha 200i handhelds do not pair with the Garmin Connect™ app.

Getting Started: Updating Software and Pairing to the Alpha Mobile App

Before Beginning

• Update the software on the Alpha 200/200i handheld to the latest version
  • Installing Software Updates to the Alpha 200/200i
• Install the latest Alpha Mobile app on a smartphone with either Google Play for Android or the App Store for iOS
  • After downloading the app, log in with the Garmin account credentials or create an account by selecting Create One and follow the prompts
• Ensure Bluetooth is enabled in the smartphone settings

Pairing Procedure

Enabling Bluetooth on the Alpha® Handheld

1. 1. Select Setup.
   2. Select Bluetooth.
   3. Select Continue.

Pairing to the Alpha Mobile App

1. Open and sign in to the Alpha Mobile app on the smartphone:
   1. Select Pair Device on the first screen prompt.
      • NOTE: If you are not prompted to pair, touch  Devices at the bottom of the screen, then touch Pair Device or +.
        
   2. Select your model of Alpha handheld
   3. The app will present a list of potential nearby Bluetooth devices that are transmitting or already in the Bluetooth list.
   4. Select your Alpha model
   5. After several moments the Alpha and the smartphone will both show a passkey number to verify the correct device being paired.
   6. A Bluetooth Pairing Request notification will pop over the app, touch Okay to confirm the pairing request.
   7. On the smartphone, touch Continue to finish the pairing process.
   8. On the Alpha handheld, touch Done.

• Review recorded tracks and/or activities

New Features Enabled When Paired a Dog Tracking Device

• Shows Dog Status icon – treeing, pointing, sitting
• Shows Dog Name
• Dog Track Color matches the colors on handheld – red, blue, black
• Adjust how long the dog tracks show on the map
• Dog movement Speed Indicator
  • Any part of the track that shows a segment of the dog moving faster than a certain speed will show up as a thicker line on the map
  • Useful to know if the dog is chasing something at that part of the hunt
  • Choose either faster than 5 mph, 10 mph, 15 mph, or Off:
    1. Touch Map tab.
    2. Touch Map Settings top left of screen (layer icon).
    3. Touch Line Display Settings.
    4. Touch Speed Indicator.
    5. Select the desired speed threshold.
