GPSMAP 7xx series chartplotter/sounder freezing on the Garmin splash screen
If a GPSMAP 700 series chartplotter/sounder freezes when the Garmin splash screen is displayed while the device is being powered on, this is generally due to an issue with the internal operating software of the device.
To correct the issue, an update needs to be applied to the device using the boot block procedure.
For instructions on how to update the device, please review the FAQ titled "How do I boot block update the internal operating software of my Garmin Marine Chartplotter/Sounder using an SD card?".
If the boot block update does not correct the issue, the device will need to be sent in for repair. Please contact Garmin Product Support to setup a Return Material Authorization.
