My Garmin Fitness Device Is Taking A Long Time To Acquire A Satellite Signal

01/17/2020 Update: Garmin has fixed an issue where some devices may appear to not acquire a satellite signal.  Affected models include:

  • Approach S62
  • Edge 530
  • Edge 830
  • Forerunner 45
  • Forerunner 245/245 Music
  • Forerunner 945
  • Fenix 6 Series
  • Garmin Swim 2
  • Legacy Hero/Saga Series
  • MARQ Series
  • tactix Delta
  • Venu
  • vivoactive 4/4S

How do I fix this problem?


The fix is in the form of a software update.  If your device is paired to the Garmin Connect app it will automatically download and install by itself within a few days.  If you want to install the update immediately you can install Garmin Express on a personal computer.  Once installed, you can follow the steps to add a device.  Upon completion, Garmin Express will indicate and offer to install any available updates.
