Vector Battery Behavior in Cold Climates
Due to the nature of the chemistry in coin cell (2032) batteries, colder temperatures can cause the battery voltage to drop. If the voltage drops below the system set-point, the Vector™ system will show the red LED because it thinks the system has a depleted battery. The red LED status indication will persist even if the battery voltage recovers due to warmer temperatures. The only way to check whether the battery is really low is to cycle the battery covers when the pedals are back near room temperature (~ 20C/70F) and observe the LED color after the batteries are reinserted. Follow this procedure to get the best results:
Spin the pedals to wake them up, wait 20 seconds and look for any LED indication.
Remove the battery cover.
Wait 10–15 seconds and then reinsert the battery cover.
Look for any LED indication.
Green LED indication means the previous low battery indication was due to temperature.
Red LED indication means the previous low battery indication was accurate.
Replace your Vector batteries.
