Approach G6, G7, or G8 Rebooting or Freezing

If a Garmin Approach® golf handheld is freezing or rebooting there are a number of troubleshooting steps that can be performed to resolve the issue.

Performing a Soft Reset on the Approach Device

If the Approach is frozen, attempt a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power button for up to a minute or until the screen goes blank.


Deleting Corrupt Files From the Approach

Potentially corrupt files can be deleted from the Approach device if it continues to freeze or reboot.

  1. Connect the Approach device to the computer.
  2. Open the Approach as a storage drive on the computer.
    Located in This PC on Windows.
    Located in Finder on Mac.
  3. Open the Garmin folder.
  4. Open the Data folder.
  5. Delete the Scorecards folder.
    NOTE: Empty the Trash if on a Mac.

Performing a Factory Reset on the Approach Device

A factory reset may also prevent the Approach device from continuing to freeze or reboot.
