Garmin Express Fails to Transfer Favorites Between Devices on a Mac
The data may fail to display on the receiving device after using the Transfer Favorites feature in the Garmin Express™ application. Garmin Express may also display the message "There was an error backing up favorites."
To Manually Move the Backup File to the Correct Location:
1. Plug your device into the computer
2. Double-click the GARMIN device drive on the Desktop. This can typically be found mounted in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Double-click the Garmin folder
- Some devices skip this step.
4. Double-click the GPX folder
5. Select GarminExpressImport.gpx
6. On the keyboard, hold the ⌘ key, then press C to copy the file
7. In the upper left corner, click the Back button to return to the main device directory
8. Select the GPX folder again, then click Edit at the top of the screen, then click Paste Item
9. Click the Eject icon to eject the GARMIN drive
10. Disconnect the device and power it on
The transferred data can now be located on the device.
