Incorrect Date and Timestamp on a Garmin Dash Cam
Check the following if a Garmin Dash Cam video has the wrong time or date:
Software
Ensure the system software on the dash cam is up to date. The latest system software can be installed using the Garmin Drive app or Garmin Express. See the links below for instructions.
- Updating a Garmin Dash Cam with the Garmin Drive App
- Updating Garmin Dash Cam Software using Garmin Express
Satellite Acquisition
Garmin dash cams that have built-in GPS that connect to satellites to receive the correct time and date:
- Garmin Dash Cam™ X110 | Garmin Dash Cam™ X210 |Garmin Dash Cam™ X310 driving recorders
- Garmin Dash Cam™ Live driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ 47 | Garmin Dash Cam™ 57 | Garmin Dash Cam™ 67W driving recorders
- Garmin Dash Cam™ 46 | Garmin Dash Cam™ 56 | Garmin Dash Cam™ 66W driving recorders
The device may need to acquire a satellite signal if the device is not displaying the correct time and date. The time and date should be corrected, including when you change time zones or when it changes to or from daylight savings time once the device has acquired the satellite information.
Some windshields may have coatings that prevent signal from getting through reliably. But many of those that have that feature have a pass-through zone for things like interstate passes. So moving it to this spot (generally under the rear view mirror) may help.
- See About GPS for more info on what can affect GPS signal and accuracy
NOTE: The dash cam will receive date/time from the Garmin Drive app on initial connection and when it doesn't have a GPS fix from satellite (such as in a parking garage, etc.)
Time Setting
An incorrect timestamp could be caused by an improper time setting on the device if a software update does not resolve the issue. Setting the dash cam's time setting to Automatic will allow the device to automatically gather current date and time information from the incoming GPS signal.
NOTE: Automatic is assumed for the Garmin Dash Cam X110, Garmin Dash Cam X210 and Garmin Dash Cam X310 and they will not have this choice.
To Change the Time Setting:
Press the button next to the
up arrow
The screen should display Settings. Press the button next to
to select it
Press the button next to the
down arrow until System is highlighted, then

Restore Settings
The dash cam settings may need to be restored if the problem continues.
