Amazon Alexa Audio Cutting Off or Delayed with a Garmin Device

Important: The Garmin Speak App has been replaced by the Garmin Drive App. To continue using the Garmin Speak along with more enhanced benefits, please visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) to download the Garmin Drive App.

If your Garmin device is wirelessly connected to your vehicle's Bluetooth stereo, and if audio responses from Amazon Alexa are delayed or cut off, try adjusting the Audio Sync setting in the Garmin Drive app.

The Audio Sync setting only displays when "Vehicle" is selected as the media output.

To Adjust the Audio Delay:

  1. Ensure that the Garmin device is up to date.  For more information, refer to the device's owners' manual
  2. Touch the  settings gear icon in the Drive app
  3. Touch the device being used
  4. Touch Audio
  5. Touch the slider under Audio Sync to increase or decrease the delay.  For more delay, move the slider to the right. For less delay, move it to the left.

Increasing the Audio Sync will give Amazon Alexa more time before responding, which can help eliminate cut-off audio prompts.

An alternative solution is to use an AUX cable to connect the Garmin device with your vehicle instead of using a wireless connection. For more information, refer to the device's owners' manual.
