Using Course Planner on a Montana 700 Series
The Montana® 700 series handhelds have a Course Planner feature that allows you to easily create courses using either direct paths between points or calculated routing to follow available roads and trails.
NOTE: If you do not have Course Planner, you may need to update the software on the handheld or add Course Planner to the main menu. Use the Garmin Express™ program to update the software or refer to "Customizing the Main Menu" in your owner's manual if the software on the handheld is already up to date.
Creating a Course
Select
to access the main menu.
Select Course Planner.
Select Create Course.
Select Direct Path or Roads & Trails.
Select Add Point.
Select a category.
Select a point.
Select Add.
Repeat steps 5-8 to continue adding points to the course.
Select Done.
Use the keyboard to edit the name of the course, if desired, then select
.
Navigating a Saved Course
You can navigate a saved course by selecting > Courses, and selecting a course from the list, or you can use the steps below:
Select
to access the main menu.
Select Course Planner.
Select a course from the list.
Select
to view the course on a map.
Select Go.
To use turn-by-turn navigation with courses the device must have a map that supports it and must be set to an activity type that supports this feature. If TopoActive mapping is enabled the activity type must be set to cycling, tour cycling, mountain biking, pedestrian walking, hiking, or mountaineering. The automobile, motorcycle, and ATV/off road driving activity types require using City Navigator® or TOPO 24K mapping. For more information, see Related .
