Viewing Hunting Management Units On the DriveTrack

Hunting Management Units (HMU) will not be turned on by default when the HuntView Plus is installed on the Garmin. Instructions for enabling the mapping are below as well as some helpful tips for viewing the Hunting Management Units on the Map page of the Garmin.

IMPORTANT

Before you can view Hunting Management Units on your Garmin DriveTrack™ GPS navigator, you will need to make sure you are on the latest software version.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Hunting Management Units (HMU) have multiple names depending on the state chosen1
  • All Hunting Management Units are shown with green lines if multiple units are selected at the same time it may be difficult to view the data
  • Only Units available for the state will be shown - example there won't be an option for alligators in Montana
  • Some states do not group all species into specific the units - example Oregon has 3 units; Duck, Goose and all other species are grouped together under WMU
  • The unit number will display at the top of the Map page if the area is highlighted

Steps on Enabling Hunting Management Units

  1. While on the home screen on the DriveTrack, Tap Settings
  2. Tap Map & Vehicle
  3. Tap HMU Setup
  4. Tap on the state
  5. Tap to select desired hunting units
    • Available units depend on the state
  6. Navigate to the map screen to view available HMUs


The Hunting Management Unit(s) chosen should be visible on the Map page. You may have to zoom in or out depending on your view level.
