Enabling and Adjusting Bark Detection on the Alpha 200 Plus or Alpha 300 Series Dog Tracking Handheld

Hunting hounds tend to bark faster or more often when they have found or are chasing their quarry. The Bark Detection feature of the Alpha® 200 Plus or Alpha® 300 series dog tracking handheld can show when the dog's barking has increased past a specific number of barks per minute.

Enabling Bark Detection

  1. From the Main Menu Tapalpha 300 setup
  2. Tap Tones and Alerts
  3. Tap Dog Alerts
  4. Tap Bark Setup
  5. Tap Bark Detection- On

Once Bark Detection is enabled, other settings will be available in the menu options:

  • Bark Alert - Set the alert on the handheld as a notification message along with a tone and vibration
  • Bark Alert Tone - Select from different system tones
  • Bark Alert Threshold - Set the threshold for the number of barks needed to set off the alert: 20, 40, 60, or 80 barks per minute

In addition to the handheld's notification alert that tells when the dog's barking rate has increased past the threshold, there is also a small indicator of a dog's barking head on the Dog's Compass when Bark Detection is enabled.
