"USB Device Not Recognized" Error when Connecting a Garmin USB Device to a Computer
Description
The error USB Device Not Recognized indicates that there is a communication issue between Windows and the Garmin device.
Resolution
To Troubleshoot and Resolve This Issue:
Plug the USB cable directly into the device (see video below)
Plugging the USB cable into the mount on the device will not allow the computer to recognize the device
Charge the battery on the device
Try connecting the device to a different USB port (see video below)
- Avoid connecting through a USB hub, USB extension cable, keyboard, or monitor
- Use a USB port on the back of the computer instead of the ports on the front or side if using a desktop computer
- Try a port on the opposite side of the computer if available if using a laptop.
- Try using a different USB cable (see video below)
Try another computer if available
Work computers may not allow the computer to recognize the device
Reboot the computer
The USB Device Not Recognized error should no longer display.
