Tracking with the Alpha LTE

Before you can start tracking with the Alpha® LTE make sure that you are paired and have an active LTE subscription, see - Getting Started With The Alpha LTE Collar for help on getting setup. 

There are two options for tracking in the Garmin Alpha app using the map to view track detail or through the Pro View shows direction and distance.  

Tracking from the Map

Once the Alpha LTE is connected and has picked up an LTE signal tracking information will automatically show on the map page see the example below. There are also different settings you can use to edit the track.   

Viewing LTE Information

In order to view specific information about the collar such battery life and signal strength.

1. Select the dog icon from the Map page.
2. Under Selected Location select the Alpha LTE collar.
   
3. The information page will open giving you more device specifics. 

Line Display Settings

Line display settings is information that will show for the tracked device. To edit select map settings .

• • Select Line Display Settings. 
    • Show Names - Shows on the map the name of the device. 
    • Show Distance - Shows on map the distance the device is from you. 
    • Show Status - Shows the status of the device being tracked. 
    • Speed Indicator - Will show a thicker track line when the set speed is met by the tracked device.

Customizing Track length

In the Alpha app you can set the track lengths to only be viewable for specific time lengths.

1. Select the Map .
2.  Select the Map Settings . 
3. Select Track Length.
4. Select a Track Length option.

Clear All Tracks

From the map you can quickly clear all current tracks if the map gets cluttered with tracks making it hard to track. 

1. Select the Map .
2. Select the Trash Can .
3. A message appears Clear All Tracks? select Yes to clear.

Tracking with Pro View

From the map page in the Alpha app

1. Select the Dog Compass icon .
2. The Pro View tab will open. 
3. Select one of the dogs to lower the tab to a single dog view.
4. Swipe left or right to view other tracked devices. 

 Pro View Settings

When using Pro View you can toggle on and off device information and bark detection (if available). 

In Multi-dog view,

1. Select the Settings icon.
2. Select Devices to view Battery, GPS and Communication of the tracked devices.
3. Select Bark to turn on Bark Detection in the app.
4. Select the Settings icon again to hide the menu.

Note: Bark Detection will only work with compatible devices and setup on the Handheld first.
