BaseCamp Route Data Missing or Trip Altered on Automotive Devices
NOTE: When using the Tread® GPS Navigator and all models in the Tread® series , it is recommended to use the Tread® App for managing waypoints, routes, and tracks. BaseCamp software can be used to manage waypoints and tracks, but BaseCamp does not support route creation for the Tread devices. For a list of devices compatible with routing in BaseCamp, see Automotive Devices Compatible with Receiving Routes Transferred from BaseCamp.
When sending a route (also referred to as trip) from Garmin BaseCamp™ software to a compatible automotive device, you may sometimes see that not all of the waypoints on the route transferred.
To prevent this issue from occurring, ensure that BaseCamp is up-to-date and verify that the route(s) you'll be transferring were created or recalculated using the same map version that is loaded on the connected device.
To Check for BaseCamp Updates:
- Open BaseCamp
- Click Help (Windows) or BaseCamp in the menu bar (Mac)
- Click Check for Software Updates or Check for Updates
- If an update to BaseCamp is available, please follow the steps to install it.
NOTE: BaseCamp is a program that no longer receives updates. Version 4.7.5 for Windows and 4.8.13 for Mac are the current and final versions of the software.
Before Creating your Route(s), Verify that BaseCamp is Using the Same Map Version as the Connected Device
To Verify the Map the Connected Device is Using:
- Connect the device to the computer.
- After BaseCamp displays the name of the device, click it to see which map version it has installed.
In the example highlighted in yellow above, the Garmin Drive 52 is using City Navigator North America NT 2026.20.
To Verify the Map Version BaseCamp is Using:
- The selected map version on Windows will appear with a checkmark next to it when you click Maps in the menu bar. It can also display in a drop-down menu above the map window.
- The selected map version on Mac will appear with a checkmark next to it when you click Maps in the menu bar.
In the example highlighted in green above, BaseCamp is using City Navigator North America NT 2026.20. If Global Map or any other map is checked, select click City Navigator North America NT 2026.20 to ensure both BaseCamp and the Garmin Drive 52 are using the same map.
If you have Already Created the Route in Another Map Version, Recalculate the Route in the Same Map Version as the Connected Device:
- Follow the steps above to ensure that BaseCamp is using the same map version as the connected device
- Locate the created route that you want to transfer
- Double-click the route
- Click Recalculate (Windows) or the circular recalculate arrow (Mac)
Once the route is recalculated, it should contain all included waypoints once transferred and imported to the device.
Recalculate the Route After Naming Shaping Points:
If the route imported into the GPS Navigator is not retaining the desired name of a shaping point made in BaseCamp, try immediately recalculating the route in BaseCamp after naming the shaping point.
- Double-click the desired route in BaseCamp
- Right-click the desired point and select Edit Via Point
- Rename the point as needed and select OK
- Click Recalculate (Windows) or the circular recalculate arrow (Mac)
- After recalculating, transfer the route to the GPS Navigator using any desired method.
If Waypoints Are Being Used in Multiple Routes or Lists in BaseCamp, Send Them to the GPS Before Sending the Routes:
If commonly used waypoints are missing within route data upon import to the GPS navigator, send them to the connected device first, and send the corresponding routes afterwards. When a waypoint is referenced in multiple routes or lists in the program, and multiple instances of it are transferred to a GPS, the waypoint may become overwritten.
