All GTS Processor (GTS 825/GTS 855/GTS 8000) units with software version 3.01 (or earlier) and interfaced to an analog output radar altimeter are affected by this bulletin.
CERTIFICATION AUTHORIZATION:
The Engineering Data Contained in Service Bulletin 1621 is FAA Approved under TSOA for Design Approval
COMPLIANCE:
Optional – Service Bulletin 1621 may be incorporated at the owner’s discretion and is not warranty reimbursable.
PURPOSE:
GTS Processor software version 3.02 includes the following enhancements:
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 adds ADS-B IN application processing (per TSO-C195a) for Airborne Situational Awareness and Surface Situational awareness. The change supports displays that implement ADS-B IN Cockpit Display of Traffic Information.
NOTE
This feature should be disabled on the GTS when installed with a GLD 88 or a GTX 345.
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 adds configuration support for the ADS-B OUT+ over RS232 protocol on the GTS Processor which allows TSO-C195a functionality in retrofit installations with GPS sources that support this protocol. Also adds the ability to process the GPS data received over ADS-B OUT+ over RS232 protocol.
- For TAS/TCAS I installations, v3.02 allows the use of Calculated Height Above Ground to select the appropriate Sensitivity Level as well as suppress aural alerts.
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 allows the GTS Processor to simulate a Radar Altimeter with a radio altitude of 2500 ft when in Ground Test mode.
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 provides improved bearing tracking of targets during ownship turning, and improves bearing tracking of Mode S targets at long ranges.
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 allows configuration of the audio output path to alert using HSDB audio or analog audio.
- For TAS/TCAS I/TCAS II installations, v3.02 allows altitude information from analog output radar altimeters to be utilized.
NOTE
GTS Processor system software version 3.01 (or earlier) does not adjust the sensitivity level (SL) based on altitude when the altitude data is received on the GTS Processor radar altimeter analog inputs.
