Pairing the Garmin GLO Series with iOS
The process to pair the Garmin GLO™ sensor should be the same regardless of which iOS device you are using.
NOTE: The Bluetooth status LED on the GLO sensor will not turn solid until a compatible application is open and actively using the GLO sensor.
Pairing the GLO
Place the GLO in Bluetooth Pairing Mode:
Power on the GLO sensor.
Ensure it shows a slow flashing blue light.
Open your iOS device's Settings.
Touch Bluetooth.
Ensure Bluetooth for the iOS device is on.
Select the GLO from the listed devices.
If a pairing code is requested, try 1234 or 0000.
If no compatible apps are loaded, you will be given the option to be taken to the App store. You can select Ignore if you choose and it will still pair.
- The GLO will show as Connected when the pairing has completed.
The GLO will now be connected and will begin providing GPS signal automatically as long as it has a clear view of the sky. To test that the iOS phone or tablet is using the GLO, a third-party app that displays coordinates can be used, such as the GPS Status ∞ app.1 To test the GLO services and confirm a connection, first put your phone or tablet into airplane mode, re-enable Bluetooth, then open the app to confirm your current location is displayed. You can test this further by covering the GLO with your hand to block the signal, which should cause the coordinates in the app to change as the GLO tries to triangulate your position.
Many iOS applications require location services to be enabled in order to receive GPS information from the GLO device.
1 Garmin does not support third-party applications. If the GLO sensor is giving location to the phone or tablet but a third-party app is not using the GLO, contact the developer of the application.
