Playing Golf with the Fēnix 5 Plus Series
The fēnix® 5 Plus watches come preloaded with world-wide golf courses and is ready to use out of the box. Depending on the initial setup, additional steps may need to be performed. If the Garmin Golf™ app was selected during the setup and software is already up to date, select Playing a Round of Golf for instructions on starting a round of golf.

Updating Courses and Software
It is recommended to check for course updates and software updates to the device before use. For steps updating courses and software follow the instructions below. More detailed instructions can be found in Related Content.
- Connect your device to a computer using the charging cable.
- Go to www.garmin.com/express
- Follow the on-screen instructions for downloading and running the Garmin Express™ program
Adding Activity Apps
To use a fēnix 5 Plus watch for a Golf activity, you will want to first want to set it up as a selectable activity. If you set it as an activity during the initial setup, the follow steps can be skipped.
- From the watch face, press
- Scroll up or down until you see +Add and select it using
- Select Golf from the list of apps
- Select Yes or No to setting it as a Favorite
- Select where in the list you would like it to be placed
After placing the Garmin Golf app where you want it, you can back out by using Back/Lap. The device may ask if you want to Save Changes, select Yes if it does.
Playing a Round of Golf
Now that the Garmin Golf app is a selectable activity and the course map and software is update to date, you are ready to play a round of golf. Before playing a round of golf, it is recommended to fully charge the watch.
- From the watch face, press
- Allow device to acquire satellites
- Select an available course1
- Select Yes to keep score
After you completed the round select and End Round to end the current round of golf.
