Purchasing Garmin® Marine Charts

NOTE: Before purchasing a Garmin Navionics+™ or Garmin Navionics Vision+™ Chart subscription via Garmin.com, Auto-Renew must be selected before the purchase can be made. Auto-Renewal can be cancelled at any time from the Subscription Portal. Subscriptions purchased via Apple® App Store® or the Google® Play Store™, will be managed through their respective store. The following countries do not have to agree to auto-renewal and do not allow auto-renew: Netherlands, Turkey, South Africa and Israel.

ActiveCaptain®

Use the ActiveCaptain App to purchase subscriptions for Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+ or to update existing charts. To purchase all new BlueChart® g3 or LakeVu g3 charts, use the Garmin website. To update or purchase a subscription, see the steps below. 

      1. Open and login to the ActiveCaptain app

      2. Select the Chart button

      3. Press the Menu button (three lines button)

      4. Select My Charts

        • Purchased charts and registered charts display on this page

        • To update a chart, select Update Now and follow the prompts to complete the update

      5. Select the Add a Chart Subscription option at the top of the page for new purchases

        • The next page displays options for additional chart purchases

      6. The Chart Store shows options based on GPS location 

        • To purchase a Garmin Navionics+ or Garmin Navionics Vision+ chart for a different region, click on the FIND MORE in the upper right corner

        • Use the map to locate the area charts that are needed. Tap the screen, press the blue banner View Available Chart

      7. Select Subscribe Now then agree to the terms and proceed to check out

Note: The Apple App Store or the Google Play Store handles purchases and refunds in the ActiveCaptain app. Garmin is not able to refund content purchased on a mobile device store.

Garmin® Express

To purchase the charts in Garmin Express:

      1. Insert a microSD® card (32 GB or less) into an SD® card reader connected to a compatible PC or MAC®

        • It is recommended to use a new card

        • Do not use a card that already contains a map file or software update files

      2. Open Garmin Express

      3. Select the vessel associated with the chartplotter

      4. Select Charts

      5. Select Shop for Charts in the bottom right corner of the Garmin Express window. You will be redirected to the Garmin website to make the purchase.

Upon completion of purchasing charts on Garmin.com, charts will now be available to download in Garmin Express.

¹ Not including Raster Charts, Relief Shading, Satellite Imagery, Sonar Imagery, Garmin Quickdraw™ Community, ActiveCaptain Community. These features are available by download using ActiveCaptain.

Garmin® Website

Purchasing Charts on Garmin.com

      1. Select the preferred Chart/Subscription

      2. Select ADD TO CART 

      3. Select VIEW CART and review the map and ensure it is the correct Chart or Subscription

      4. Select CHECK OUT, If not signed in the website will prompt a sign in

      5. Confirm or enter the shipping and billing address and select CONTINUE

      6. Prior to entering payment information, Auto-Renew must be selected. Auto-Renewal may be cancelled at anytime via the Subscription Portal.

      7. Complete the payment information

Note: At this time, purchasing updates to already owned BlueChrt g3 & LakeVu g3 charts may be available in ActiveCaptain and Garmin Express. Acquiring new g3 charts requires purchasing from Garmin.com or via Garmin dealer. To find a dealer, use the Garmin Dealer Locator.
