AIS 600 not Recognized by Computer

The AIS 600 must be connected to a Windows-based PC in order to program the MMSI, Vessel Dimensions, and other important information to the AIS system. When the AIS 600 is connected to the PC using the included USB cable, Windows should install the proper drivers so the AIS 600 Configuration Software can communicate with the AIS 600.

If the drivers do not install properly, the user may have to manually install the drivers. Follow these steps to install the drivers:

  1. Disconnect the AIS 600 from the PC

  2. Reboot the computer

  3. Open My Computer

  4. Right-click on the CD or DVD Drive that contains the AIS 600 CD-ROM

  5. Click Explore

  6. Double-click the Driver folder

  7. Double-click the CDM20600.exe file

  8. A Windows Command Prompt screen will appear and install the drivers. Wait as this shows on the screen. When this screen disappears, proceed to the next step.

  9. Connect the AIS 600 to the PC

  10. Wait 60 seconds as the PC connects the AIS 600 and selects the drivers

The AIS 600 should now properly communicate with the AIS 600 Configuration Software.

NOTE:  To ensure the AIS 600 device powers on for programming, connect the red wire from the power/data cable to the positive (+) terminal of the 12 or 24 Vdc power source, and connect both the black wire and the yellow wire from the power / data cable to the negative (-) terminal of the 12 or 24 Vdc power source.
