Number of Trip Log Points Viewable on an Automotive Device
Trip logs are points automatically stored when the GPS device is locked onto a satellite signal and moving. It is the electronic equivalent of laying down a "breadcrumb trail" to mark the path or "track," the device has previously traveled.
The Trip Log of the device will display a maximum of 8,000 points on previous tracks. Beyond 8,000 points, the device will begin to archive the oldest points as new ones are added, so they will no longer be visible on the device screen. Older tracks can still be viewed by importing them into Garmin BaseCamp™.
To View the Trip Log:
- Touch Settings
- Touch Map & Vehicle or Map Display
- Touch Map Layers
- Touch the checkbox next to Trip Log ,Travel History, or Unsaved Tracks
- Touch OK or Save
- Skip this step on some devices
The device will now display the Trip Log as a narrow blue line on previously-traveled tracks while viewing the map.
